Currently I work in the Department of Earth Sciences at ETH Zurich. As part of the ETH web relaunch project I migrate the Department's public website to a new content management system. I also coordinate the migration of all websites within the Department's portfolio and support the Institute's and Research Groups during their migration.
For 5 years I worked as Web Developer for the Faculty of Social Sciences at The Open University in Milton Keynes (England). In this position I had overall responsibility for all websites in the Faculty's portfolio and I planned, built and maintained websites. Since 2008 I work with the open-source web content management system Drupal as themer and site builder. For personal reasons I moved back to Switzerland in November 2013.
Since 2001 I work as Web Developer on consultancy basis. Thanks to my occupational Onlinegestalter training I work with web standard. Now, I use the advantage of HTML and CSS to build well structured web documents. Apart from separation of content and presentation, I always have one eye on accessibility and usability. From February until August 2008 I was working as Technical Support Executive with Thomson Reuters in London (England). I worked within the German speaking team and supported both end-users and IT personnel on Thomson Reuters financial products and services.
Until October 2007 I was working as Technical Sales Support with Ericsson Internet Payment eXchanche (IPX) in Stockholm (Sweden). In this position I was the first point of technical contact for IPX business customers in Germany and the Netherlands. I supported clients during mobile services implementation on the IPX system and managed the technical relationship with the client after the service launch. I worked closely with the local sales organisation and interacted with network carriers regarding approvals for premium WAP and SMS services.
Until December 2004 I worked with Mathys Partner in Zurich (Switzerland) as 3D Designer. Mainly for architecture I created visualisations and animations. During this time, I worked as Project Manager or as part of the team on over 100 projects, from the single family house up to the city development. Key projects were, among others, the visualisations for Santiago Calatrava's World Trade Center Transportation Hub at Ground Zero in New York City or the animation for the new football stadium Hardturm in Zurich. In 2012 I started with Aikido at Seibukan Aikido in Milton Keynes (England) and after my move back to Switzerland I joined Aikido Ennetbaden with Rosmarie Herzig Sensei. I'm also a board game geek and I like to cook (and to eat). In summer I'm riding my bicycle and in winter I like to snowboard.
I'm a Tough Mudder finisher! In May 2013 I took part in Tough Mudder London North, a cruel 12 mile obstacle challenge. With about 12° C it was a cloudy day with rain and a hail storm in the middle of the run. Besides the common climbing up and jumping down, obstacles included an ice bath, electro shocks, fire, barb wire, and mud, lots of mud. It was hard and in parts I was struggling but it was a great experience. I'll do it again!
